Introduction
Working with an industrial client who wanted to reduce accidents in their facilities, our team embarked on an ambitious project to develop an interactive quiz platform focused on factory safety. The fundamental objective of this project was to effectively train employees in good safety practices by providing an engaging and personalized learning experience.
An evaluation platform
Our main challenge was to design a testing platform capable of handling several thousand employees simultaneously, allowing them to take a variety of security-related tests and questions. This comprehensive assessment system was designed to provide a certificate of each employee’s knowledge, while unsatisfactory results would be reported to their supervisor, triggering additional safety training.
A playful approach
Recognizing the importance of keeping employees’ attention and making safety training more engaging, we took a fun approach when designing our platform. By creating interactive quizzes, we managed to combine the informative aspect of safety tests with the entertainment provided by popular and useless mini-quizzes on social networks. To do this, we developed a variety of questions presented as interactive playing cards, allowing users to immerse themselves in a dynamic learning experience.
The platform offered a range of engaging interactive activities to users. These activities included:
- Sorting cards into different categories (good behavior/bad behavior)
- Dragging and dropping cards onto impact scenarios (self, others, all staff)
- Reorganization of cards in a logical order
- Identification of risks in detailed images
- And many more This variety of activities was designed to stimulate employee engagement, increase knowledge of various aspects of plant safety, and promote better retention of essential information.
Conclusion
Through the development of this interactive quiz platform focused on plant safety, we were able to balance the critical importance of safety training with an innovative and engaging approach. Instructors were provided with a dedicated back office, allowing them to create custom question sets, schedule quiz sessions and view individual employee results. In addition, the use of random data for each question ensured the integrity of the assessments, preventing employees from memorizing answers and sharing them with each other. Employees who passed the test received a certificate recognizing their security skills, while those who failed were encouraged to take additional training specific to their deficiency. As a result of this innovative initiative, factory workers can now perform their duties with minimal risk of accidents related to hazardous situations, such as injuries caused by machinery and other potentially dangerous objects.
